IRACEMA Mata Fina Especial, corona extra (5.3x46). Brazil. This brand has been around nearly 40 years, but it's not well know. Even though it comes from the Suerdieck factory, it took our recent shortages to pull much of their product into the U.S. And that name: I believe it's an honorable Indian name, but sorry, it sounds like a cheesy label for a bad bundle cigar.
But this is a serious smoke. It has a fairly robust flavor, on the high side of medium. The taste profile makes me think of amplifier settings. The graphic equalizers are set for a bright sound, with lots of midrange and crisp highs. The bass is there, as a deep wood note, but you really notice a sort of citrus upper flavor over a very solid of middle of no-nonsense coffee. Imagine unsweetened espresso with grapefruit zest. Hey, not a bad idea. I might like that better than lemon.
The Mata Fina Especial is made for port. The wine tastes twice as complex, and the cigar turns softer and more woody, but just as robust. The tones balance better.
Something different that's worth a try.
