LA DILIGENCIA Robusto (4.75x50). Honduras

This beautifully made robusto starts out like some Dominicans at twice its price:  mild and bright.  In fact, the recipe is close to that of some fine Dominican cigars.  The filler is Dominican, with some Honduran and Nicaraguan for character, the binder is Dominican, and the wrapper is Connecticut shade.  And that Colorado claro wrapper is gorgeous.

The flavor develops into a delightful blend of soft flavors, with meaty notes, light coffee, and a slight dry spiciness if you pull hard.  This is a great cigar for a leisurely weekend morning.  Makes me think of one of those sun-drenched country kitchens that you see in Architectural Digest.  Mellow, golden tones of natural wood, and you in your most comfortable clothes, before a fire in a hand-tiled hearth.  Yeah, I should be writing ad copy for this cigar.

I'm very impressed, especially considering that La Diligencia has existed for only about a year and a half.  They certainly have their act together.  If you want a mild smoke with delicate, complex flavors, this is hard to beat.

$4.90 and more than worth it.
