MONTECRISTO Double Corona, corona gorda (6.25x50). Dominican Republic.
And now for dessert. This one's out of my budget, but hey.
Insiders knew for years that Consolidated Cigar was reblending the Dominican Cohiba, and they obviously wanted it perfect. Impeccably made, of course. Medium strength and very rich. The tobacco is cured and aged to compete on a world-class level. I gasp to think of its flavor after more years of aging. It's so good now.
Right now, it's deep and smooth, and it plays complex chords on the palate. Bottom notes are heavy without intruding. The midrange is dominated by powdery floral notes and coffee. Just a touch of spice on top.
With bourbon, it tastes delightfully smoky, as in a hardwood fire. Scotch might be an even better partner.
This is a truly fine cigar, worth the $9.50 if you can afford it.
